10 Most Exciting New Additions To The MCU
8. Pom Klementieff As Mantis
Pom Klementieff is likely the only actor on this list that you haven't heard of. Other than a supporting role in Spike Lee's terrible Oldboy remake, Klementieff hasn't done much in the Hollywood scene. But she somehow got the attention of James Gunn who cast her as the newest member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Mantis.
While Marvel certainly likes casting big names in their films, they also occasionally take chances on some unknown talent, like Tom Holland and Chris Hemsworth, which has worked out well for them.
Gunn especially has a good eye for unexpected casting choices as Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista were pitch-perfect in their roles in the first film. And neither were apparently too popular with the studio initially. Gunn has also praised what Klementieff has brought to the sequel and has teased some emotionally powerful scenes between Mantis and Drax.
Apart from the possibility of discovering a new talent, Mantis is an exciting new character for the simple fact that she'll be the newest member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It's a lofty responsibility, but Gunn's work suggests he'll get her there.
