10 Most Exciting New Additions To The MCU
5. Michael Keaton As Vulture (Probably)
Sometimes Marvel casting works for the simple fact that they found the perfect actor for the character, like Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Sometimes it works because the actor brings something unexpected to the role, like Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. And sometimes it works simply because of the credentials of the actor.
Such is the case with Michael Keaton appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Whoever had the idea of putting the best big screen Batman in a Spider-Man movie is a genius, and making him the villain is even greater. The villain in question is the Vulture (probably), and while that's not the most inspired choice, the fact that Keaton is playing him is a big draw.
Some could see it as stunt casting, but I would look at it more akin to Robert Redford's role in The Winter Solider. It was fun seeing him take on a role that hinted at his past career without ever winking to much to the camera.
This career resurgence from Keaton is a delight for anyone who grew up with his movies, so hopefully a good role in a Marvel movie will help him stay in Hollywood's good graces.
