It has already been established in the MCU that the title of Black Widow is not unique to Natasha Romanov, and that it is actually something earned through rigourous KGB training. It makes sense that the Black Widow film would seek to include some other iterations of the character.

One such individual is Melina Vostakoff, a Black Widow trainee enthralled by jealousy over her more famous counterpart in Romanov. While little has been given away about her cinematic portrayal, one thing that is clear is her status as a Black Widow is coupled with involvement in secret scientific experimentation. Could this be a hint towards her secondary identity as the mechanically enhanced suit-wearing Iron Maiden? Almost definitely. If that’s the case, she could serve as one of the main foes of the film.

This character is in the safe hands of Rachel Weisz, an actor well-versed in fantasy, action, and drama. She was the backbone of the early noughties The Mummy and its sequel, playing the underestimated, formidably intelligent Evie Carnahan in a role that could switch from comic relief to saviour of the world on a dime.

However, Weisz is a goodie in most of her films, which would make her role as Iron Maiden a bit of a departure to what we’re used to. But with a decades-long resume under her belt including pretty much every movie genre under the sun, she’s probably well prepared to join the MCU.
