10 Most Exhausted Horror Movie Protagonists
6. Laurie - the Halloween franchise
Laurie Strode from the Halloween franchise has to be one of the most iconic final girls in cinematic history, and definitely up there as one of the most exhausted. Somehow she has survived (even after being killed!) a whopping 12 films that are set in the Halloween universe, despite not directly appearing in all of them. However, this continued existence of Laurie outside of the cinema screen, and then her eventual return in the 2020 instalment (simply named 'Halloween'), has left a lot of fans wondering just how much more Strode can feasibly take.
Her first appearance in John Carpenter's 1978 film that started the franchise, sees a teenage Jamie Lee Curtis adopt the mantle of Laurie Strode, a babysitter who is targeted by a serial killer, Michael Myers, on the night of Halloween. After becoming one of the most influential women in horror that later took critics to adopt the term 'final girl' in relation to being the final female left alive at the end of a horror film, Laurie has more than on one occasion been the singular body left standing.
Seeing as this franchise has spanned more than 40 years, the amount of death and destruction Michael caused in Laurie's life must have left her with irreparable psychological damage.
