10 Most Frustratingly Obvious Star Wars Missed Opportunities

8. Giving James Mangold The Boba Fett Reins

Since the very second he slipped onto the scene sporting some of the most impressive armour the galaxy had ever known, fans the world over had been angling for a feature-length spell with Beskar-brandishing badass, Boba Fett.

Then, after almost giving up on the hope of ever seeing the son of Jango fire his jetpack back onto the big screen, news finally broke of Logan-helmer James Mangold signing up to bring the space-aged gunslinger's story into existence in 2018 and what looked like a match made in inter-galactic heaven was finally set in motion.

Only, this evident open-goal of a partnership was never actually part of the plan at all, according to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

As the prolific producer would note to Empire Magazine, "Jim Mangold never worked on a Boba Fett story."

So much for that then.

And while fans did at least finally get a Boba story of sorts with his own Book on Disney+ recently - well, half of it at least - not moving heaven and earth to secure a director of Mangold's calibre for a Fett-focused project in general feels like one of the most baffling missed chances Kennedy and Lucasfilm have been a part of to date.
