10 Most Iconic Robots In Film History

1. R2-D2 & C-3PO (Star Wars)

C3PO R2D2 Obvious choice for number one. Easily the most famous film robots in history, despite one of them not even being able to speak! (To be honest, I'd seriously considered including just R2, because let's face it, everyone loves R2. But you can't split these two up! It would be a crime.) The design of R2 is brilliant in its simplicity. No face, no speech, all he can do is make sounds and turn his head. But somehow he's able to convey emotion and bravery (and in the prequels, sometimes out-act his costars!) For anyone who doubts R2 and Threepio's right to be here, try something. Watch all six Star Wars films in a row, in chronological order. From Episode 1 to 6. If you do, you'll notice something very strange. Luke is not the main character. Anakin/Darth Vader isn't either. Neither is Yoda, or Han, or any other person! It's R2-D2 and C-3PO. Everything in the story hinges on them. Don't believe me? Try it, then come back here and plead for forgiveness. So that's all for this article! Thoughts? Happy about the inclusion of one of these robots? Angry about the Terminator not being here? Sound off in the comments below!
