10 Most Iconic Villains In Movie History

8. T-1000 - Terminator 2: Judgement Day

Arnie’s original performance in The Terminator is a masterpiece of understatement, the future governor putting his robotic acting style to great use as the titular killing machine. The series’ best villain, however, comes in the sequel, with Arnie’s now-saintly robot matching strength with a sleek new model with a handful of nasty tricks up his sleeve.

Robert Patrick’s turn is a difficult balancing act. He portrays the T-1000 as an upgrade on the old model, one that can briefly pass for human, but he must maintain an unmistakably android base. His mechanical movements and poise make a hard job look easy.

There are so many memorable T-1000 moments. The liquid metal is still one of the coolest sci-fi creations. The transmorphing into John Connor’s foster parents will leave the viewer with chills long after the credits have rolled. And that car chase, so brilliantly spoofed by The Simpsons, is heart pounding action at its best.

Whether Judgement Day outstrips the original is a different debate, but the T-1000 is one of the true awe inspiring action villains, and might just be cinema’s greatest robot.
