10 Most Insufferable Johnny Depp Performances

7. Captain Jack Sparrow - Pirates Of The Caribbean 2, 3 & 4

The first time the world got a glimpse of Johnny Depp in the original Pirates of the Caribbean movie, everybody said: "This is a fantastically unique performance - well done, Johnny Depp." And that was despite the fact that he just seemed to be channelling Keith Richards. Back then, of course, the concept of Johnny Depp in a costume wasn't as inherently annoying as it is today - now it all seems like overkill. So despite the fact that Depp is downright brilliant in Curse of the Black Pearl (he was rightly nominated for an Oscar, even though Disney executives were originally unsure about his version of the character), Jack Sparrow has reached a place of pure insufferableness in subsequent sequels, none of which captured the thrills - or general sense of fun - of the first picture. All schtick gets old, and Jack Sparrow - good as the character is - seems to get less and less interesting each and every time we see him. He almost seems like a go-to character for Depp whenever he gets the urge to dress up in a funny costume. Enough is enough: even the sight of the character is insufferable.
