8. Audrey II - Little Shop Of Horrors

Wishmaster movie
Warner Bros.

Little Shop of Horrors follows a down-on-his-luck florist called Seymour. After his alien plant, Audrey II, becomes the talk of the town, Seymour believes his luck is finally turning around. But when he learns Audrey II needs blood to survive, Seymour is compelled to feed human bodies to the carnivorous plant.

Being a decent guy, Seymour initially refuses to help Audrey II out. Since the singing seedling is unable to move, she can't directly force Seymour to do her bidding.

Instead, Audrey II deploys a far cleverer strategy to get what she wants. Recognising Seymour's money problems, the beastly bloom promises him riches, fame, and women if he continues to feed her.

Although it seems like only a sucker would fall for this ploy, Seymour sees his business booming as Audrey II continues to grow. When Seymour's one true love is impressed by the shop's star attraction, it bolsters him to feed the fiendish flower even more.

By the time Seymour realises Audrey II seeks ultimate power, she's too big to stop, allowing the gargantuan sapling to take over the world. (At least in the original ending.)
