10 Most Intense Comic Book Movie Performances Ever

10. Michael Fassbender As Magneto

Fassbender is a phenomenal actor (if less phenomenal of a human being), and his casting as the young Erik Lensherr opposite James McAvoy as Charles Xavier in the X-Men prequel First Class was nothing short if inspired. Even if, at times, his performance didn't quite reflect the level he was bringing to the likes of his Steve McQueen collaborations Hunger and Shame. For one thing, the Irish actor couldn't seem to decided on what accent his Magneto would have. He seemed to veer between his native tongue, the more plummy English tones Ian McKellen gave the character in the earlier films, or reverting to the German €“ since that's where the character's from. Even with all that, though, he managed an intense performance in his early scenes as the vengeful mutant going after the Nazis who killed his parents in a concentration camp, getting to indulge himself in a way his brief scenes in Inglourious Basterds didn't manage. That bank scene especially.
