10 Most Messed Up Horror Movie Monsters

5. Pale Man - Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)

Hellraiser: Bloodline
Warner Bros.

You enter a room. There is a wonderful banquet laid out before you. There is also a blind, naked, saggy-skinned creature sitting ominously at the head of the table, a plate of eyeballs before it. You have also been previously warned that his creature eats children. Do you a) steal some of its food? Or b) definitely not steal some of its food and leave?

So much of the Pale Man is freakish. It’s stillness and corpse-like appearance make us question - is it alive or dead? Is it, or was it ever, human? And why does it see through its hands??

We are told that the Pale Man eats children, but its emaciated appearance seems to contradict this fact, whilst its nakedness and the conflation between hands and eyes suggest a darker threat towards children.

Dangerous sexuality is prevalent in all fairytales, and Del Toro hints at it most strongly with the Pale Man.
