3. He Cameoed In Every One Of His Films
Verdict: Untrue Everyone knows about the cameos, even if they've never seen a Hitchcock movie; of course Alfred Hitchcock appeared in every one of his feature films - that was his 'thing', his director's signature. Hitchcock made great thrillers, but taken all together his work is like a 100-hour-long game of Where's Wally?, only with a bald, droopy-looking Englishman in Waldo's place. Anyone looking for Hitchcock in some of his earlier films are going to be searching for a long time (read: eternity), however, as the director doesn't feature in some of them at all. In fact, Hitch only made cameos in 39 of his 52 surviving films, beginning with 1927's The Lodger, his third movie. The reputation he gained for making cameos in all of his films came about after he'd started gaining prominence as a director in America. He stepped it up in the '40s, and began making bolder appearances that audiences couldn't miss; like the one you can see above, of him not even hiding the fact he's sitting next to Cary Grant in To Catch A Thief.
