Battle Royale, in terms of pure concept, is perhaps the most far-fetched film on this list. In execution, however, it feels all-too real, and as a piece of entertainment, it makes you feel a great deal of guilt-ridden pleasure. Although the idea of teenagers fighting to the death is now household thanks to The Hunger Games franchise, this Japanese film had the very same idea first. Unlike The Hunger Games though, Battle Royale is much, much less appropriate for younger audiences. The film pits innocent teenagers against each other in a battle to the death on a deserted island until there is but one survivor. As you'd expect, things get pretty crazy, pretty fast. Some kids were clearly born with survival instincts and a taste for blood, and for them this is all fun and games, while others take some time to adjust, with a small few flat out refuse to participate (not a good idea, obviously). Whatever the case, the vast majority of these teens, whether they like it or not, are absolutely out-of-control. And, because of that, it proves to be a wickedly thrilling flick to watch.
