When the cast of Suicide Squad was announced, it was hard for any movie fan to not be excited. After all, the list included names like Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, and Tom Hardy! Unfortunately, fans looking forward to seeing Hardy take on another comic book role after playing Bane in The Dark Knight Rises were left disappointed when he was forced to drop out due to Mad Max: Fury Road press commitments. Was that the real reason though? The heroic Rick Flagg is expected to be the straight man of Suicide Squad, and when David Ayer's script - which none of the actors had seen when they signed up - cut that character's screen time in order to focus on Deadshot and The Joker, Hardy reportedly left. Though his departure was on amicable terms, this was a blow to the movie, and Warner Bros. best hope that Marvel don't snap him up before they do.
