10 Most Paused Moments In Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies

10. Captain America's Shield - Iron Man

Marvel Studios

When Iron Man first arrived in cinemas, nobody expected it to be the landscape-changing event that it ultimately turned out to be; Iron Man himself was considered to be something of a B-list character, whilst the notion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was still shaky. Which seems kind of crazy nowadays, given that cinematic universes are the "in thing."

Still, the first proper easter egg concealed within the frames of an MCU movie was this one - Captain America's shield, visible in the background of a single shot in the original Iron Man flick. There were rumours of this when people were going to the cinema to watch the film, of course, but it wasn't until the DVD release - when people could pause and get a true glimpse of the iconic item - that the collective Marvel fanbase went crazy. Given that - at the time of Iron Man's release - a Captain America film hadn't even entered production, this little teaser hinting at a larger universe was deemed majorly cool.
