7. Atomic Blonde

David Leitch's stylish direction ensured Atomic Blonde was more mesmerising than crass, but those expecting anything beyond base-level thrills were left disappointed.

Charlize Theron's Cold War romp wasn't lacking in sex appeal or fight scenes that dig in like a stiletto spike to the throat, but pacing issues killed it in the eyes of some.

Many fans and critics hailed the film for putting a kickass heroine up front and centre in a testosterone-soaked genre, while just as many thought it was less than revolutionary, pillaging from Bond and Bourne at every turn.

If you want to see Theron kicking ass in hyper-stylistic fashion, watch Atomic Blonde, but if you want to see her doing the much the same thing with more narrative heft, Mad Max: Fury Road is the movie for you.
