10 Most Powerful Star Wars Characters

3. Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

If you look at the Star Wars saga as a whole, across all six films, then it truly becomes the story of Anakin; from the early recognition of his ability, and his training to be become powerful on the Light Side, to his progression to the Dark Side, becoming Darth Vader (and being the best damn movie villain of all time) and then his redemptive arc at the end of Return Of The Jedi. Anakin is the Chosen One, the most Force sensitive human ever, and even though he may lose some fights and let rage get the better of him, he's an extremely powerful Jedi and an even more powerful Sith Lord (and that's despite his capabilities being somewhat restricted by having to wear that suit). He eventually defeated Obi-Wan, and under the Emperor's rule was responsible for controlling the galaxy, but his most powerful moment was when he managed to return to the Light Side, defeat Palpatine and save his son. If he had been able to realise his true potential then Anakin would undoubtedly be number one, although then he might not have been quite so compelling a character as a result.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
