2. Your Men Are Already Dead - The Matrix
Streaming with lines of code until it hits something discernible, The Matrix starts as the key to everything that transpires throughout the movie: revealing the computer program that controls humankind as the very opening reel. Big d*ck energy at its finest, since it's implying we're too stupid to read it to truly understand what's going on before diving straight into a 0 and revelling in the inner workings of the system.
Once we're through to the other side, however, we get a taste for what we're going to get for our 2 hours of runtime - that being kick flipping action as Trinity smacks the crap out of a load of police officers in slow motion. Honestly, we were rooting for her ever since she got called 'just one little girl'. Don't underestimate a goth, guys, they understand pain like you never can.
With the sinister agents closing in, a mysterious voice on the end of a phone line, and a dark, foreboding atmosphere that reads as especially dangerous - The Matrix sets us up for an exciting movie right from the outset. More time defying action shots, please.
