10 Most Ridiculous James Bond Villain Schemes

3. Trevelyan Attempts To Destroy The Same Economy He's Robbing - Goldeneye

The Plan: Destroy the Bank of England using the GoldenEye satellite weapon in order to destabilise the British economy, but not before stealing an enormous amount of cash. Ahhh, Sean Bean €“ the cinematic cannon fodder and in Goldeneye he outdoes himself by managing to get killed off twice. He plays the part of Alec Trevelyan / 006 (just one away from the big time), a fellow spy who apparently kicks the bucket at the start of the film only to reappear as a rogue agent bent on bringing the economy to its knees in revenge for Britain's involvement in his parents' deaths in the second world war. As if that long-standing and somewhat vague grudge wasn't enough, he also wants to steal a shed load of money too. It's quickly evident that he's not the most competent of villains, having accidentally melted most of his face off faking his death earlier on but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Let's take a wider view of his scheme: what can you really do with all those freshly stolen pounds if you've just crippled the British economy? Not the Sharpe-est tool in the box is he?
