10 Most Selfish Characters In Horror Movie History

7. Carter Burke - Aliens

Midsommar film

It's all about that promotion baby!

When heroine Ripley lands back on earth 57 years after the events of Alien, she immediately acquaints herself with the young Carter Burke. An employee of Weyland-Yutani, Burke is a point of contact for our beloved Ripley. He's there to tell her about her daughter's death, he gets to fill her in on the changes on earth since she left and he eventually became a friend for her on a planet she no longer recognised.

It is due to him that Ripley agrees to return to LV-426, with the promise of reinstating her flight licence.

So it was obviously enraging when the truth about Burke's motives finally came out. We find out, when the mission goes south, that Burke's priority the whole time was to bring back the alien life forms to earth, to earn a promotion and riches. In all honesty, we should have known from the start, since Burke worked for Weyland-Yutani and we all know that corporations are always evil in horror movies.

But the betrayal only gets worse when Burke sets in motion a plan that would kill both Ripley and the child she was protecting. He sets loose a couple of face-hugging aliens in the room where the two are, locking them in in the hopes of them becomes living hosts for the alien spawns, making it easy for him to bring them back to earth.

Whilst we never get to see the inevitable demise of such a vile and selfish character, a deleted scene thankfully shows Burke suffer the exact fate he was planning for Ripley and if that isn't satifying, I don't know what is.

Lily thought it was about time she wrote Top Ten lists for people other than herself. She also owes her dog a lot of money so she thought it was about time to pay her dues. There is no tv show she likes that she hasn't seen at least twice.
