10 Most Shocking Snubs In The 2022 Oscar Nominations

2. Rachel Zegler - Best Actress

House Of Gucci
20th Century Studios

From one newcomer to another and someone who has made a big splash in Hollywood at the disgustingly-young age of 20-years-old!

Plucked from obscurity to helm Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, Rachel Zegler impressed many a viewer with her turn as Maria. Her performance catapulted her into the stratosphere, securing her a "Best Actress" Golden Globe (the youngest person and first Latina actress to win said award) and she's already got roles in the Shazam! sequel and the upcoming live-action Snow White reboot in her future.

Again, disgusting.

One thing not in her immediate future is an Oscar win as Ariana DeBose is the only West Side Story cast member to get a nomination. The film itself will challenge for "Best Picture" and Spielberg... well, he's Spielberg. He could release four hours of him on the toilet and still get a nomination.

Once again, Zegler missing out this year is not the end of the world. She is so young, so talented, and has picked her next projects very well. Zegler is looking at a long and potentially fruitful career, so hopefully she can look back at this snub in a few decades time and laugh... hopefully...
