10 Most Underrated 2000s Horror Movies

8. The Burrowers

The Burrowers
Blue Star Pictures

If you ever wanted to mix your horror with a good dose of rootin', tootin', and shootin' from the world of westerns, then The Burrowers is for you. When people start going missing from their homes on the fringes of 1800s civilisation, a band of misfits and brave adventurers are put together to end the problem once and for all - and whilst they all assume a fight with the Native Americans will be the end of their problems, a much darker cause seems to be lurking under the surface. In more ways than one.

The Burrowers is a neat little horror movie that successfully combines its genres well and offers up some interesting monsters when you least expect it, and whilst it isn't the perfect movie by any standards - it's one that's often forgotten in the reams of other 00s flicks that aren't quite as inventive or subversive as this one. It's well worth a watch, at the very least.
