10 Most Underrated 2000s Horror Movies
6. Frailty
Horror and religion go hand in hand when it comes to movies - with Carrie's extremist mother, the hundreds upon hundreds of violent sacrificial cults, and The Mist's Mrs Carmody just a few examples of when God goes wrong - but it's done a little differently with Frailty. Leaning heavily into psychological territory more than out and out horror, Frailty depicts the father of two sons as he comes to terms with a message from above that he is to kill evil people from a list, with one of his children believing and supporting, and the other terrified of what his family has become in the wake of his mother's death.
The film was well received during its initial run, but has largely been forgotten since. Considering it's one of the gems of Matthew McConaughey's filmography before we hit the 'McConnaissance', its even more impressive as one of those movies lost to time. And more than just alright, alright, alright in its quality...
