10 Most Underrated Comedy Films Of The 90s

3. The Wedding Singer

The Cable Guy Jim Carrey 2
New Line Cinema

The Wedding Singer is the perfect Adam Sandler movie. No, seriously. Not only does it tone down the wacky, man-child tendencies he'd exclusively exhibited until that point, but it also makes sure to never let Sandler act too warm and snuggly, lest you forget that he's still very capable of strangling you with his microphone cord if and when the time calls for it.

Robbie Hart isn't the same kind of guy who drunkenly berated a decorative swan in the middle of a bubblebath or attempted to murder a beloved game show host on a golf course. He's merely a down-on-his-luck, wannabe rock star who happily accepts homemade meatballs as payment for an old lady's vocal lessons.

How damn cute is that?

But although The Wedding Singer constantly flirts with the idea of jumping ship into full-on schmaltziness, it still takes itself much less seriously than Click, and the relationship between Sandler and Drew Barrymore isn't nearly as sappy and aggravating as it is in 50 First Dates, one of many future Sandman flicks that would try - and fail - to capture the spirit of this movie.

All of that aside...you get to see 80s-styled Steve Buscemi get drunk and act like a complete assh*le within the first fifteen minutes. How could you not want to see that?
