7. Thine Own Self - Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
The most underrated scene in a criminally underrated movie (seriously, how did this movie not make a half billion dollars?) occurs after Scott defeats Gideon Graves in the movie's climax. You'd think that was the end, right? Hero wins the fight, boy gets the girl, happily ever after with rainbows and unicorns or whatever? Pump the brakes! Scott has to face off against one last opponent: himself. As Nega Scott prepares to fight - yep - Scott Pilgrim, our hero tells Knives and Ramona he must face Nega Scott alone. After that, do we get another incredible fight scene? Nah, too predictable. Instead, the two Scotts work out their beef off-screen. When asked what happened, Scott Pilgrim replies: "Oh, we just shot the sh*t. He's just a really nice guy. We're getting brunch next week. We really have a lot in common." Nega Scott walks away whistling. Just another example of how seamlessly comedy and action can be weaved together when left in the proper hands.
