10 Most Unnecessary Times Star Wars Used CGI

5. The Blinking Ewoks - Return Of The Jedi (Special Edition)

Return of the Jedi of course introduced Star Wars fans to the Ewoks, and you know what? The fact they never blinked bothered not a single damn kid who grew up watching it.

But for the film's Blu-ray release, George Lucas decided to add digital blinks to the pint-sized characters, presumably because he felt this would make them appear more lifelike.

Yet considering that fans had spent literally decades watching Return of the Jedi with non-blinking Ewoks at this point, it ultimately just caused an unnecessary distraction, effectively "fixing" a "problem" that nobody ever complained about.

Of all Lucas' many digital changes to the original trilogy, this is certainly a trivial offence - albeit trivial enough to be utterly pointless. Nobody asked for this, and beyond Lucas' own fidgety obsession with "perfecting" the original trilogy, it served no tangible purpose whatsoever.
