10 Most Unusual Demands By Star Wars Actors

9. Be Uncredited As Darth Vader On The First Two Films - James Earl Jones

James Earl Jones gives one of the most iconic vocal performances in cinema history as the voice of Darth Vader, and though he initially opted to be paid a nominal fee for his work rather than roll the dice on a slice of A New Hope's box office, his appearances in subsequent projects have proven massively profitable.

Yet Jones made a peculiar request on the first two Star Wars films, that he be left uncredited and Darth Vader be credited only to David Prowse, who physically portrayed the character on-set.

Jones' rationale was that he felt more like a "special effect" than a performer, and so was only convinced to take a credit for himself from Return of the Jedi onwards. He said in a 2008 interview:

"When Linda Blair did the girl in The Exorcist, they hired Mercedes McCambridge to do the voice of the devil coming out of her. And there was controversy as to whether Mercedes should get credit. I was one who thought no, she was just special effects. So when it came to Darth Vader, I said, 'No, I'm just special effects.' But it became so identified that by the third one, I thought, 'OK I'll let them put my name on it.'"
