Some years after the tragic death of their young daughter, Nicolas Roeg's acclaimed horror Don't Look Now (based on the short story by Daphne du Maurier) follows John (Donald Sutherland) and his wife Laura (Julie Christie) travel to Venice for John's work.

While there, Laura becomes convinced that their daughter is trying to contact them from beyond the grave. Although John's understandably skeptical, he likewise begins to suspect that something supernatural is happening when he spots what he believes is an apparition of his child wearing the same bright red coat she died in.

When John finally succeeds in catching up to the figure in the red coat, the film subverts all expectations by revealing them to be the serial killer who's been stalking the Venetian streets at night.

Shaking her head as if mocking both John and audiences, she pulls out a knife and slashes the bewildered man's neck, causing the film to erupt into a kaleidoscopic montage of dizzying sights and sounds as the dying man struggles to process what just happened.

Catching viewers completely by surprise, this cinematic death rattle is an unforgettable end to one of the greatest horror classics ever made.
