10 Movie Actors Who Can't Escape Their Most Iconic Role

10. Robert Pattinson - Edward Cullen (Twilight)

When the Twilight saga finally came to its conclusion in 2012 the biggest sigh of relief emanated from the direction of the man who played the lead role of Edward Cullen. Indeed, Robert Pattinson's flagrant contempt for the role is equally hilarious and ironic given that his performance as the brooding, pale skinned vampire - or a "manic-depressive who hates himself," as R-Patz so eloquently described his character - made him sparkle on the Hollywood scene. Two years on from Breaking Dawn: Part 2 and Pattinson is firmly off camera, with just two movie credits under his belt, both in 2014, starring in dystopian drama The Rover and David Cronenberg's satirical piece Map Of The Stars for which he received favourable reviews. But will he ever manage to make the world forget Edward? Or, conversely and crucially, will he find it within himself to resolve his hatred for the character that made him a superstar and move forward with a career that promises so much? Time will only tell for an actor who accepts that he has been under intense scrutiny following the fast-track fame and expectation that Twilight heaved onto his conscience.
