10 Movie Adaptations That Changed The Ending For The Better

5. The Crow

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsuwLTPz_dE The Crow doesn't so much have an altered ending as it has tweaked events throughout the story that make the ending resonate more heavily. Both the original comics and the Alex Proyas film feature a young street girl; in the comics she is called Sherri, and Eric forms an emotional bond with her that carries throughout the story. Her arc ends with her being given Shelly's (Eric's dead wife) engagement ring. The film ends similarly, but the difference is that Sherri, renamed to Sarah, is a far more prominent character throughout; in the comic, her contributions to the story are pretty minimal, whereas in the film we're allowed to get to know her more and she's even put in mortal danger, such that the end of the film actually has a strange sweetness that most people, even fans of the comic, would not have seen coming. By Sarah being someone he can help even in death, The Crow manages to be more than a mere revenge story with supernatural trappings; there is something more human under the surface.
