In the majority of auditions that get sent to an actor, a scene/extract will be sent to them to prepare and offer a take on that is interesting and diverse enough to make them stand out amongst the many applicants.

A 12 years old, Emma Stone didn't get this memo before she was brought into the room for a part in Nickelodeon's All That. Confessing that she wasn't aware she had to prepare any form of character work before entering the room, she went into improvisation mode and the results were positive.

In the moment, Stone manifested a "cheerleader that couldn't spell what she was cheering" and a "babysitter who is possessed," giving an example in a Jimmy Fallon interview, along the lines of 'Goldilocks and the (dramatically deep voice) THREE BEARS.'

Stone has made a career from her brilliant improvised exports and this early performance highlights the talent that led to her diverse portrayals in Birdman, La La Land and Superbad, to name a few.
