9. Raiders Of The Lost Ark - Indiana Jones vs. German Mechanic

As mentioned in the article's introduction, Indiana Jones is the poster child for getting worked over in films. Despite being a formidable fighter, viewers can basically count on each entry to the franchise containing THAT fight, where Indy comes across an impossibly strong behemoth who pummels him mercilessly. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, this scenario revolves around the German Mechanic, a ferocious Nazi who Indy and Marion encounter as they make their escape from the crypt containing the Ark of the Covenant. Indy handles himself well enough in the fight, and this battle basically introduces his inventive fighting style which includes dirty moves like throwing sand into his enemy's eyes and even biting him at one point. Still, despite Indy's strong showing, the German Mechanic remains relatively unfazed throughout the battle, shrugging off many of our hero's strongest haymakers and eventually sending him sprawling and stunned into the dust. Indy only ends up winning due to the Mechanic seeming to forget where he is fighting, and not observing the two razor sharp plane propellers spinning in the near vicinity. This undoubtedly was a lucky break for the archeologist, as the Mechanic looked like he was just getting warmed up, while Indy looked like he could barely stand up.
