10 Movie Cameos Actors Hated

2. Hayley Atwell - Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

During the Doctor Strange sequel's unforgettable Illuminati sequence, Hayley Atwell portrays the Earth-838 variant of Peggy Carter - effectively a British, gender-swapped version of Captain America called Captain Carter, who was first introduced in the MCU's What If...? animated series.

Atwell's screen time as this kick-ass variant of Peggy was short-lived, though, as after appearing in the movie for around two minutes, she's cut in half by her own shield at the hands of Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

In a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, however, Atwell called her cameo a "frustrating moment." She said:

"I'm like, 'That wasn't my choice!' ... When she was like, 'I could do this all day,' and then followed by she's immediately cut in half by a frisbee. And the audience being like, 'She can't do it all day. Apparently, you can't, so egg on your face.' That doesn't really serve Peggy very well." ... I felt like I had much more to do in the What If...? animation series."

On one hand, the entire Illuminati sequence was clearly intended to be nothing more than fleetingly amusing fan service - a quite literal what-if, even - but on the other, considering how the Captain Carter getup looked like a natural fit for Atwell, it's a shame she didn't get more to do.
