Michael Myers is nothing short of a horror movie icon. The mask itself is infamous, and the character's battle with Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode is legendary, even if the quality of the films has flagged like so many other franchises in the horror genre.

In 1998, the events of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later took the bold step of killing Myers off, as Laurie was able to end their almost two-decade-long struggle by decapitating him. The writers could have chosen any way for Laurie to kill her nemesis, but it doesn't get much more final than by removing The Shape's head from his body.

But this is Halloween, and by the time H20 had rolled around, Michael had already eluded death on multiple occasions.

As the title suggests, Michael Myers was resurrected in the franchise's nadir instalment, Halloween: Resurrection, with his death being retconned in the most puzzling way possible.

There couldn't have been many good ways to bring the character back, as he had been comprehensively killed, but to retroactively have him pull the old switcheroo and have Laurie chop off an innocent's head rather than his certainly was a choice. Even Jamie Lee Curtis hated the idea.
