10 Movie Characters Destroyed By The Fourth Wall

6. The Boom Operator - Spaceballs

In the case of Mel Brooks' fantastic 1987 Star Wars spoof Spaceballs, the audience wasn't even aware this "character" was indeed a character until they were dragged kicking and screaming into the movie.

During the climactic lightsaber battle between Han Solo knock-off Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and Darth Vader substitute Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis), the supervillain ends up slashing his lightsaber too far left and strikes the film's crew member operating the boom microphone.

And because the boom operator's death isn't already funny enough, Dark Helmet then tells the presumably traumatised crew that Lone Starr was responsible, to the hero's fury.

The fourth wall got destroyed by a lightsaber, taking this poor sap with it.
