10 Movie Characters Killed Early In The Sequel

7. Peggy Carter: Captain America: Civil War

Peggy Carter is another casualty from the Captain America series, meeting her end in Civil War. Though she didn't actually appear in the third instalment of the series, we still see Steve having to deal with her passing.

As the only tie Rogers had to his old life, losing Peggy was incredibly difficult, but important for the development of the movie. Not only did Steve find out who Sharon Carter really was while she gave her eulogy for her aunt, the words she spoke were almost directly relatable for him and the Accords situation.

Peggy was never going to play a large part in Civil War, yet as a character so loved, not only by Steve but the audience as well, the Russos were able to turn her death into a powerful punch in the movie. Really, her personal character arc was completed by the end of The First Avenger, so it was a smart move by the Russos to utilise her in this way further down the line.
