10 Movie Characters Who Had To Kill Themselves To Win

Early on in the mind-melting (and really quite awful) Terminator Genisys, Skynet's T-800 from the original Terminator movie is sent back to 1984 Los Angeles as expected - but this time, Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) is prepared for it.

She's not only a battle-hardened warrior in her own right, but has a protector in the form of "Pops" (Arnold Schwarzenegger), another T-800 reprogrammed by the resistance and sent to protect her when she was a child.

As the young T-800 arrives in L.A., it's almost immediately confronted by Pops, leading to a CGI-slathered fight between the two, with Pops exposing the T-800's robotic skull after bashing it in the face with a parking meter.

If we're getting into technicalities, Pops doesn't quite deliver the killing blow to the T-800, as Sarah shoots it in the chest with a sniper rifle, but between the two of them it was very clearly a team effort.

Though this fight occurs relatively early on in the movie, it's nevertheless an obstacle which must be cleared in order for Pops, Sarah and Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) to later defeat the T-3000 (Jason Clarke).
