10 Movie Characters Who Knew When To Quit (But Didn't)

7. Loki - Dogma

Fall Becky
Miramax

Kevin Smith's satirical masterpiece Dogma follows Loki (Matt Damon) and Bartleby (Ben Affleck), two fallen angels who attempt to exploit a loophole in Catholic dogma that will allow them to re-enter Heaven, which by proving God wrong would also in turn un-make the universe.

The pair get dangerously close to pulling their plan off, but once Loki has his wings removed - a requirement for completing the ritual - he also manifests a conscience, which makes him realise the horrors of what they're doing.

As Bartleby prepares to enter the nearby church, a drunk and guilt-riddled Loki attempts to stop him, but alas, Bartleby responds by brutally stabbing him to death.

Loki knew it was time to stop the killing and walk away, but perhaps because of the booze sloshing through his veins, he decided to hang around and challenge his former comrade, in turn losing his life as a result.
