10 Movie Crazes You Forgot Were A Thing

2. Art-house Movie Posters

Your movie is sold based on how well it's marketing is and no piece of marketing works quite as well as a specifically designed poster.

If you look at how the MCU has gone about promoting its work, you'll see how the onus has shifted from brooding, almost metallic imagery of the first Iron Man to the more virbrant visceral options we have ten years later in Infinity War. This is due to the audience's tastes shifting and demanding a lighter and brighter design to get them into the cinema.

Although, today's posters are quite pleasing on the eye, they simply don't compare to the now retro options of yester-year. A Clockwork Orange, with it's plain white background pierced by Alex brandishing a knife through the centre. Apocalypse Now plotting a seemingly melting Marlon Brando front and centre, with a red sun pulsing out from behind his head and a concerned Martin Sheen gazing out in front of him whilst apache helicopters flock like birds across them.

Tarantino aside, posters aren't made in the same vein anymore and it's a shame as these examples, along with countless others from decades gone by were works of art, not marketing.
