10 Movie Details You Totally Missed The First Time

6. Jigsaw's Identity Is Spoiled Early - Saw

The first Saw movie is best remembered for its masterful sleight-of-hand ending, where the Jigsaw Killer aka John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is revealed to have been lying "dead" on the floor for the entirety of the "game."

But a damning hint towards Jigsaw's identity is actually hidden in plain sight in the first act of the movie, when a flashback shows Dr. Gordon (Cary Elwes) doing his rounds at the hospital, and he briefly stops off at John Kramer's bedside.

On first viewing the scene is of course completely innocuous, but with the subsequent knowledge that Kramer is in fact the film's villain, it makes sense to pay much closer attention.

Look at Kramer's sketchpad on the right-hand side of the frame and you'll see a technical drawing of what is very clearly the reverse bear trap, which Amanda (Shawnee Smith) is placed in by Jigsaw.

If you're a horror fan there's a solid chance you've seen this movie not once but many times, yet did you ever notice how an eagle-eyed viewer could end up spoiling things for themselves?

In terms of the film's actual internal logic, though, one has to consider why a criminal mastermind like Kramer would dare leave his sketchbook open like that.
