10 Movie Directors Who Dated Their Stars

1. Woody Allen And Everyone

Not that Quentin's the only one who makes a habit of dating basically every female star of his that he can get his hands on. Or the ones that have nice feet, at least. Nope, the grand master of perversity has to be award to Woody Allen, whose rumoured sexual appetite has taken a much darker turn in recent years. Before he started making it with his adopted daughter, however, he was linked with basically every female actor he cast in his films. Usually as the romantic leads. Opposite himself. We guess it's a pretty tried-and-true method of seduction, so we can't really begrudge him it. After a brief marriage to a 16-year-old (when Allen himself was 19) dissipated, he shacked up with soap opera actress Louise Lasser, who provided voices for his satirical dubbing of a Japanese spy film called What's Up Tiger Lilly? The pair were married from 1966 to 1968, but Lasser still appeared in Take the Money and Run, Bananas, Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask) and Stardust Memories after they divorced. From there he went out with Diane Keaton, who first appeared in his Broadway show Play It Again, Sam and was the inspiration for the roles she played in Manhattan and Annie Hall. When that didn't pan out either he went out with 17-year-old actress Stacey Nelkin, whose part in Manhattan ended up on the cutting room floor. Regardless the pair made a go of it for a while after, although Allen never publicly acknowledged it. For obvious reasons, we hope. Not long after he finally fell for Mia Farrow, who had leading roles in most of his movies from 1982 to 1992. They never married and had separate homes, but were very much a director/actress couple. At least until his affair with Farrow's adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn came out, and he married her instead. Stay classy, Woody. And stay away from his movies, everybody else.
