10 Movie Directors That Lied To Get What They Wanted

1. Debbie Isitt Lied About Blurring Nudity - Confetti

Confetti is a 2006 comedy mockumentary that follows three stories of hopeful couples looking to win their dream weddings. The plot strain that drew the most distaste was up-and-coming British comedians Robert Webb and Olivia Coleman as a pair of naturists.

To give director Debbie Isitt a writing credit for the film is probably the funniest joke about the production. Bouncing off the red-hot success of The Office, the film is totally improvised. Outside of Confetti, her filmography features a handful of dire holiday movies and nothing else. So most likely sensing that she had no real talent, Isitt decided that infringing on the rights of her actors was probably the best way to garner attention off the back of her dreadful movie.

Despite the director promising to pixelate Webb and Coleman’s genitals, the actors were horrified to find themselves completely uncensored at the film’s first screenings.

Speaking on Confetti, Coleman called it the “worst experience” of her life and that she understandably “couldn’t sleep for a year” because of it.

The pair did enter early talks to sue Isitt and the production company but decided to drop the suit and try to forget about it. This disgusting betrayal of trust is gladly not something that seems plausible in the modern day, but it’s shocking that it was allowed to happen at all.
