10 Movie Endings That Leave More Questions Than Answers

1. American Psycho

Was it all in his head? Is he a psycho killer? Is Paul Allen alive or dead? These are all questions moviegoers had when American Psycho ended. Throughout the film, we follow Patrick Bateman, an investment banker who is obsessed with perfectionism and being better than everyone else.

We see the character start to lose his sanity as he goes on killing spree after killing spree, later confessing to his lawyer about everything he had done.

But in a surprise twist, no one took his confession seriously. His lawyer laughed it off, and also stated that he had lunch with Paul Allen (Bateman's first murder victim) a week ago.

The film's ending left audiences dumbfounded as many tried to decide if Bateman was just an average New Yorker with an extremely disturbing imagination or a deranged serial killer who could get away with all his crimes perfectly even after confessing.

Or, were some of the killings real and others imagined as his thirst for blood rises the more he kills?

In the end, we can all agree that Bateman is a highly unreliable narrator and a creepy one at that.
