The Scene

A fighting pit. Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) has wandered down to the pits for a bit of bare-knuckle Queensbury in the hope of finding some clues...

How It Sets The Bar

The fight itself is pretty standard Guy Ritchie - as we will touch upon later - what gives this one it's own edge is the use of voice-over.

Though, the fight is well executed - the beats and precisely calculated offense, devastating with each fatal blow - Holme's verbal dissection of his opponent is luxuriated in thanks to the mechanism this article is dedicated to.

Each hit is lingered on and the reaction of the skin made by Holme's knuckles, bare hand or any other part of his body he sees fit, makes us wince in pain at the thought of being on the other end. When the fight is cranked back into real-time for his plan to be put into affect we are satisfied and feel a better understanding of the severity of punishment that has been given out.
