10 Movie Franchises That (Almost) Destroyed Their Star
10. Harry Potter - Daniel Radcliffe
Though the majority of Harry Potter's young cast came out of the hit fantasy franchise relatively unscathed, Daniel Radcliffe's struggles to cope with headlining a gigantic media property at such a young age turned him to excess drinking by the time the series began to wind down.
By his own admission, Radcliffe filmed much of the two-part finale The Deathly Hallows while drunk, saying, "I can point to many scenes where I'm just gone. Dead behind the eyes."
When the panic set in that he'd soon be moving on to the next stage of his career, Radcliffe only further used alcohol as a crutch, until finally deciding to quit drinking altogether in August 2010, shortly after he wrapped filming on the Potter movies.
Radcliffe has successfully managed to stay sober ever since, crediting not only his supportive family and friends but also his decision to keep living in the UK rather than relocate to the temptation-filled land of Hollywood.
As for his current feelings on Potter? Radcliffe doesn't regret the experience one bit: "There was never a point where I was like, 'Oh, I wish this hadn’t happened to me, I wish I wasn’t Harry Potter.'"
