The Franchise: Tom Six's controversial butt-to-mouth horror franchise began in 2009, earning mixed reviews yet apparently stoking enough morbid curiosity that it sold adequately on home video. The sequel in 2011 raised the bar even further in terms of grotesque violence and fecal matter, leading to worse reviews and controversial bannings in numerous countries. How It Died: And finally, after many delays, Tom Six somehow made enough money to release a third film this year, albeit straight-to-VOD (aside from a very minimal theatrical release), yet incredulously starred Oscar nominee Eric Roberts. Talking about the film's quality is virtually irrelevant at this point: you know what you're going in for, and it delivers/disgusts accordingly. Still, it grossed (pun intended) roughly 10% of what the second film did in cinemas, and was probably more pirated than legally sought out on VOD. In short, there's no chance of another, though in fairness Tom Six insisted this would be the last anyway. Still, if anyone can pull another follow-up out of where the sun doesn't shine, it's him.
