8. Superman Saved Lex Luthor - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
After trying and failing to get Batman to kill Superman, Lex Luthor turned to the ancient Kryptonian deformity that would be known as Doomsday. Literally brought to life by Luthor with the sole purpose of killing the Man of Steel, there was always a risk of things going wrong.
With a mindless, raging monster there was always the danger that he wouldn’t only target Superman, and that’s exactly what happened. The very first thing the beast did was set Luthor firmly in its crosshairs and swing.
Had Doomsday connected his fist to Lex Luthor’s defenceless face, there is no doubt that he would've been killed, and after everything he had done to Clark Kent and the people he loved, no one would have blamed him for letting it happen. However, that’s just not who Superman is.
The world’s most famous superhero is the beacon of hope, and of everything right in the world, and though he brutally snapped Zod’s neck he wasn’t about to let Luthor die. Zod was threatening the entire planet, whereas Luthor was no longer the threat, only a mere potential victim for the Man of Steel to save.
