Holding out for... an Ewok, apparently...

Hollywood loves a hero. You've probably noticed the superhero movies that are released roughly once a week. Audiences love them too. Watching a strong, brave, and confident hero triumphing over an evil villain is a true thrill to witness.

But sometimes, a movie hero falls short and it's a weak, wimpy, and unconfident character that saves the hero and the day. It happens a lot more than you think. From Han Solo to James Bond, and even Batman! There are many examples of mighty, cinematic heroes failing and needing a Knight in Wimpy Armour to come in and put things right. For instance...

10. James Bond - Casino Royale

Star Wars Return Of The Jedi
Universal

As if Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, and Brosnan never existed - the 21st James Bond movie goes right back to the beginning and depicts Bond (Daniel Craig) on his first ever mission as a 00 agent. This is also the first film in which Bond must navigate a truly dark and realistic world. No joking around or playing with gadgets here, 007 instead endures beatings, poisoning, betrayal, torture, and even failure.

After defeating terrorist financier, Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), in a poker game, Bond carelessly falls into his trap. Both Bond and his love interest, Vesper (Eva Green), are captured and tortured until they reveal the details Le Chiffre needs to access the prize money.

All seems lost until Mr. White (Jesper Christensen), a frustrated associate of Le Chiffre, saves Bond and Vesper by shooting Le Chiffre and his accomplices dead. For a meek and rather unathletic guy as Mr. White to be the one to save Bond and eliminate the main villain is a less than heroic start to Craig's tenure.

Although, he certainly made up for it going forward.
