10 Movie Moments That Pissed Off The Fanboys In 2014

4. Fatzilla

Considering that Hollywood had pretty much closed the book on Godzilla after finding out that Matthew Broderick definitely isn't leading man material in an action movie, the fact that any fans would pick fault with the chance to see another big screen outing for the Toho legend seems a bit ungrateful, but such is fandom. Perhaps struggling to cast off the ominous memories of that Roland Emmerich travesty that saw the monster reinvented as a bad tempered iguana intent on smushing mankind for no real fathomable reason, fans reacted angrily when the first reveal of Gareth Edwards' new monster appeared to have packed on the pounds. They took the suggestion of obesity as an indication that the film was going to be another betrayal of the source, and while the reality was entirely different (and the film excellent), murmurs of "Fatzilla" could still be heard in dark cinema rooms across the world. Proof, if ever it were needed that you can't win no matter how you "reinvent" a classically adored character.
