10 Movie Moments We Waited Years For (That Didn't Live Up To Expectations)

6. Marion Returns - Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

While the beginnings of their relationship were problematic to say the least (she was 15, he was ten years older), Marion Ravenwood was always the best female Indiana Jones character. The competition wasn't exactly hard to overcome, to be fair, but that didn't dampen the excitement of knowing that she would return for the fourth chapter in the franchise.

After all, George Lucas' decision to bring in a different love interest in each film - after over-ruling Steven Spielberg who wanted to use Karen Allen in Temple Of Doom - was a travesty and they clearly had more than enough unfinished business and existing complexity to warrant more screen time.

But Then...

The Marion who turned up in Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull was not the same one who had bowed out a couple of films earlier. The sharper edges of her character had been blunted and fundamentally, though they argued, it felt like she was being presented as no longer a real equal to Indy. It's mostly because she's more a plot point than a real character, which is a shame and fairly disrespectful of her importance.

Also, the ending sucks.
